FILM PROGRAMMING


UM FILM CLUB

William Glen Jones is an experienced film programmer, serving as co-founder and president of the UM Film Club, the University of Mississippi’s on-campus film appreciation organization.

  • The UM Film Club began in fall 2021 at the University of Mississippi. The aim was simple: to regularly watch and discuss films in a collegiate setting.

    From 2021-2024, Jones served on the organization’s board, alongside co-founders Miles Thompson and Autumn Payne, among others.

    Notable screenings included The Nightmare Before Christmas on the University’s Grove Stage, Do the Right Thing on the Malco Oxford Studio Cinema big screen, and Shiva Baby in partnership with the UM Pride Network.

  • Now, the UM Film Club has over 400 members, screening films of all kinds and discussing the value of cinematic storytelling with new and returning audiences.

ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL

Jones currently works as a festival programmer for the Atlanta Film Festival in Atlanta, GA. For the 2026 edition of the festival, he will be serving as a judge in the Short Film Screenplay Competition.

CHARLOTTE FILM FESTIVAL

Jones also currently works as a festival programmer for the Charlotte Film Festival in Charlotte, NC. Here, he works with a talented selection committee to program dozens of short films from around the world.

BELOW THE BELT

Jones served as a Post-Production Assistant on Below the Belt, directed by Shannon Cohn and distributed by PBS Films and Endo What.

LES VOIX DE LA JEUNESSE

Jones also served on the planning committee for Les Voix de la Jeunesse: A Francophone Film Festival.

  • TheDepartment of Modern Languagespartnered with the French-American Culture Exchange to bring six French films to the University of Mississippi campus in fall 2022, garnering many students, faculty and Oxford community attendees.

    Jones helped program the six titles, as well as provided an introduction of Joseph Losey’s Mr. Klein (1976).
